Mental images are thinking about pictures in stories and poems and helped by glittery language.We could picture in are brains.And we can write mental images to other people to.We use it so we can understand the story or poem more.

Fraction are equal parts like if your friends  come with you to Manny's you cut the pizza in the same size. You can cut it in quarters and hafe.The fraction is a circle you can cut it in 1/4 and1/2 and 1/3.

Shapes sizes vertices sides

 We have been doing shapes and sizes and the middle part is called.  

A side is when two vertices come together it will be a vertices. You can take six triangle to make ahexogon out. Of triangles or three rombus.

This week we are learning about the attributes of 2D shapes and how to use several shapes to create a new shape. Here's how they were able to make shapes with their bodies or objects around the classroom and using different shapes to make something different.

Winners of the St. Patrick's Day STEM Activity

Congratulations....Zane, Banks, Monserrat, and Spencer! Their 24 inch bridge held a Leprechaun (5 cubes) for 14 seconds! 

Great job to all groups!! 

St. Patrick's Day STEM Activity

Students were asked to solve a problem! The leprechaun needs to cross the bridge. The bridge needed to be 24 inches long, built with marshmallows, tooth picks, and straws. They could use up to 5 2D shapes to weight the bridge down. Their bridge had to hold the leprechaun that was 5 cubes long. They worked under pressure! The clock!! They had to work has a team and communicate...this was easier for some than others! They had to form a plan. Some had to reevaluate and start their plan again. Some had enough supplies while others wanted more. But, they worked through all obstacles and never gave up!
